Arcane So, DDR2 only for the first release followed by DDR3 next year....that's thrown my plans out somewhat, I assumed Nvidia would go into the DDR3 thing straight away.

Id personally wait until penryn is released and see the yeilds on the x38 with DDR3 even more so with x48 biting at its heels (Sources at Intel Taiwan, however, stated that the company would decide whether to launch an upgrade version of X38 chipset after evaluating the market reaction to the X38-based motherboards) see digitimes link.

Hopefully DDR3 will drop in price due to this surge of chip sets. But in conclusion i certainly dont want to give up near £400 worth of DDR2 In favour of DDR3, as im sure a vast proportion of us dont really want to do this either. Unless someone has the hand of god to wave at me!

The only real gain to be had, i am of the opinion is PCI Express 2. Also X38 supports crossfire but not sli for example the asus maximus. So i therefore presume if dual sli is to some peoples preference this chipset wont support dual sli with reference to the asus maximus (kindly correct me if i am wrong please). So a gain to be had with one sli card of which is my preference.

The question: is the x38 really worth the money?

Jokester hit the nail on the head (page 6., post 179) in reply to my original post (page 6., 176)

Awesome hopefully they'll have decent FSB performance to compete with X38 in the likely event that X38 is SLI capable.

Just have to wait & see if it's the truth or porkies ...
Supposedly they should be available mid-October (15th/18th or so).

Released November, probably.

Availability in the UK? No chance, DFI currently doesn't have a UK distributor, hence why there is still no sign of the LP UT P35-T2R here.

Shop around. They are available in the UK along with the Blood Iron. £189.

Yeah I ordered mine from the US and a few days later the shop that sells them had them up on their site.

However, they're the only store in the UK to stock it - So I'm assuming they have sourced them direct or through some other channel.
