Hey all, well i've decided on this winter i'm going to work on something that needs a lot of work...me!
Back in about 2001 i was fit, in shape and a bit more toned than now.
I've never been overweight, quite the opposite infact, i'm 5"11 and fluctuate between 9-10 stone, usually around 9 stone 2 lbs, which i'm not that happy with, i eat well but have a very fast metabolism, and really do not put weight on by eating, but when i'm at 10 stone i can drop to 9 stone in a matter of 4-5 days again.
My plan for over the winter is to get myself more physically fit, i've been too lazy over the past years, my fitness has dropped to a stupid low and i really want and need to tone up a bit more and get some more weight on me, ideally 10-11 stone.
The only thing stopping me right now is that i have a "partial" hernia, a very very small one that has been identified as not being needed cutting out yet, but i have the option of doing so if i want to, but it will mean 5-6 weeks at least to full recovery from the operation, from a workout/fitness standpoint anyways. This was only really noticable because i am thin (so the specialist says) and i'm in 2 minds over getting the operation done now, or putting up with it (Its not too bad right now, maybe 30 mins a week of a numb ache from it)
The main concern is that my fitness is that bad, i'm really struggling with where to start on getting fit again, my aim is to be back at the gym 2-3 times a week, at least, by January, i currently do 20-30 press ups a day, aiming to increase that 30, 4 times a day, thats how bad my cardio shape is right now, that i'm a bit done in from that, and quite frankly i'm p*****d i let myself get into this kind of physical shape.
For anyone who has let themselves get too unfit and then tried to fight it, what would you consider a good starting step? As i said i aim to be on the gym on a Treadmill, Rowing Machine and Weights by January, but what would be a good step in the fitness stakes until then? I'm not bothered about toning up yet, that'll come with the gym time i'm sure, but i really just need to get my head in gear with this and get started before i turn into a fat lazy thin person!
