Hi

Every so often my computer will freeze up, and I'll hear a bios-type error beep through. The computer will either then just reboot or need rebooting (ctrl-alt-del doesn't work)

Sometimes the RAID 0 array will be marked as broken, but then yet another reboot and the problem disappears.

When you get back into windows vista it just says that the intel drivers caused a problem, and gives a link to download the newest one. However, I already have those.

I also have the newest v14 BIOS.

So what should I do?

U got any Raptors on the Raid array?
What version of the Intel Raid driver are you using?

The drivers come from the Marix Manager install yes? The version of that is 7.8.0.1011

I have a single raptor attached to port 1 on the controller, but not RAIDed. then I have a SATA optical drive on 2, and then drives 3-6 are 250GB Western Digitals in RAID 0 (backed up daily)

The drivers come from the Marix Manager install = Correct
Your version is 7.8.0.1011?
Seems no such version was availible, do you have 7.6.0.1011 maybe?
Update to the lastest 7.8.0.1012 version
ICH9R = know issues with the latest raptors i.e 16MB 36GB, 74GB and 150GB but not the older 8MB 36GB and 74GB. Which Raptor have you got?

Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Why? Do you know of some issues with particular OSs?

EDIT - I've got the older 75 Gb raptor, well, it's at least 2 years old anyway.

EDIT - Oops, I have the 7.6.0.1011, not sure where the '8' came from.

Ok so you've got the older Raptor i.e the 8MB one, then this does not seem to have the issues as much as the 16MB's. So update your matrix drivers to the latest ones Ver.7.8.0.1012 and try that

ok - just to clarify.

I downloaded and install, and now on the Matrix Manager 'about' screen it says I am running 7.8.0.1013, which is one version up. Will see how it goes.

How do I check the actual SATA driver has also been updated? When I go to the driver manager and check the driver tab for the raided volume, I only see a microsoft driver version 6.0.6000.16386 from 21/06/2006
