Do the 32mb cache drives offer better performane that the 16mb cache ones and if so is it noticeable and in what areas?
Anyone got the 750gb version of this drive? Im just reformatted using one and hd tach is giving me an average read of 76mb/s. Was kinda expecting it to be higher than that as i was under the impression it used the same 334gb platters of the 1tb version
There have been a load of cases of it, unfortunately.
But you don't complain that a 2GHz CPU isn't 2048MHz, why not?
sweet, but is there an ETA and price for the 500gb versions? 500gb is plenty for me and i have heard the 500gb ones might run quieter and a little better performance due to only using 2 platters? not sure though :-/
Installed a 750GB drive this weekend (it was only 129 euro so couldn't resist) and my speed is the same, max speed also does not go over 100MB/sAnyone got the 750gb version of this drive? But it remains strange that the 750GB drives are slower than the 1TB drives when they should have the same platters and same density
The Toms review said that all models have the same platters and I could not find any info on the fact that the 750GB model uses 250GB platters but seeing the speed it makes sense. They are different the 750GB are made from 3 x 250GB platters. The 1TB is made from 3 x 333GB.
I think the 750GB drive is to be avoided.
The 640GB drive is made from 2 x 333GB platters and is the one you want. The info. is on that tomshardware review AND also samsung specs for these drives.
Yep, I'd like to see this too...Personally I would love to see the 320Gb single platter version.
When I was doing my GCSEs (Now that I think about it, that was six years ago - christ!) Edexcel considered the term 'CPU' to cover the computer chassis and everything contained within! The scary thing is I have seen exam papers from official bodys who define 1Gb as 1,000 MB.
