Just would say, it depends on what games you run.

but at that res you could get 3850 and it would be great, even an 8600GT would serve a purpose, although it wouldn't be very future proof and would struggle quite drastically with crysis.

8800GT no doubt. If you are planning on a bigger screen and want lots of AA and AF then the X2 might not be so bad but only if you will upgrade your screen in the next 2 months. I think the 8800GT should be bought and then just think about a X2 maybe next round. Also there will be faster, cheaper GPU's around by a few months so buy for now. Buy the GT ;).
