case modding

hi i am planing to cut up my old case and try make it slimer and give it paint job to make it a cheap meadia pc :p and i was wondering would a bit of solder be strong enough to hold 2 steel parts togeather?

I wouldn't have thought so myself. Especially if you start putting stuff on top of the case also.

You need to think about vibrations also. When the HDD and Optical drives start humming they're gonna shake that solder loose? You could solder and reinforce with some cable ties, but honestly i think you might need to crack a welder out.

I think a welding gun will be much easier and quicker to use than soldering. Solder is not really designed for giving strenght.
