Is there a good desktop fan control software ? Or is it only possible via hardware My Asus mobo has the software to do this but it works via the bios so if I make changes I have to do a restart.

Running the fans silently is great for anything other than gaming & I want to be able to just turn up the fans & load a game

If you are looking for some software to control your fan speeds then check out SpeedFan. You can program it to increase or decrease fan speeds when certain temperatures are reached, all done automatically. Your mobo should have at least 3 fan headers (maybe even more) that then speedfan can control. If you want to control more fans that there are available headers then you can connect more than one fan to each header using a splitter. I've been using this program for many years and it's done a great job and the best thing about it is that it is FREE!
