Mouse, USB or PS/2 port?

Just picked up a Logitech MX 1000 & was wondering if there's any benefit from connecting it to USB port instead of PS/2 one?

Also, do you need a specific type of mouse-mat to use with laser mice? See have one I've been using for years (dark-blue in colour) & the new mouse seems to perform sluggishly. Use on the desk & its fine :confused:

If you are having to use a USB-PS/2 adapter then I'd plug it straight into the USB port because I've not found them the most reliable things. It might make it slightly more prone to skipping as well I think but some adapters work fine.

Why don't you just use the desk then?

Get yourself an Everglide mousemat, I'm using one with a Razer Lachesis mouse and it's a dream!

I just use the desk with mine, does the job. If you want something a bit smoother, I have also used one of those clear plastic sheets which you put work in before filing it, works great!

I'm prone to wrist-ache after prolonged use on the desk. But so far (1 day) using new mouse not felt any pain
