I use flash drives quite a lot, and every so often forget to "safely remove" one, sometimes this causes Vista to pop up the message "your drive needs to be formatted" when I use it next, my current solution to this is boot up an xp machine insert drive, DO Nothing!! remove drive, insert in Vista machine and all works fine, no data loss nothing.
So I am assuming it is a problem with the mbr (if they have one) on the flash drive, so, is there away of fixing the problem in Vista? as I am sure one day I will change my two remaining xp machines to Vista.

thanks

it still comes up with that message sometimes even when you do safely remove it

i noticed it stopped in vista after going and finding the drive in my computer then ejecting it from

The problem is until I stick the flash drive in an xp machine (instant fix) as far as Vista is concerned there is no data on the drive and it needs formatting!! that's not just on 1 pc with 1 flash drive, if I try said flash drive in an other Vista machine I get the same message. So it's not an ignorable thing!!
