As per title really.

I am currently using a pair of M.O.S. IXOS DJ1001's when I'm in bed, so main uses are music and dvd's as I fall asleep. These bad boys have really had it rough as they're thrown about a lot and spend most of their time on the floor being slightly kicked about. The sound quality from day 1 is still present (quite remarkably) but I now feel they're on their last legs.

I need a recommendation of something similar in sound quality and durability and to be closed and full sized.

Thanks for any information offered.

How much do you want to spend? Do you have or intend to get a seperate amplifier? Better still, why not browse some specialist sites looking for well known brands of headphones, such as Sennheiser, Beyer Dynamic, Audio Technica, AKG or Denon? That way you'll get pictures, technical details, some notion of costs and user experiences. Thus enabling you to pose your queries in more specific and answerable terms.

My closed 'phones are the Audio Technica W5000s and I'd happily recommend them to you but doubt that you'd take my recommendation seriously enough to spend £700 on them. Some other nut may recommended a camouflaged set of Skull Krushers as enthusiastically as I would my W5000s. Neither would help you. The quality of an answer is determined by the quality of the question.;)

Budget isn't really an issue, though nothing silly or nothing too cheap. I'd say around the £50 mark. As said above they're going to spend a bit of time on the floor and kicked around slightly, and so no, they won't be amplified. I will mostly be using them while I fall asleep, so sound quality isn't a huge issue though of course I don't want anything that's too rubbish. So build quality and durability is the most important factor.

I've been looking at the MDR-V6 by Sony which has been recommended. Does anybody own a pair of these? As already indicated, if so, what's the build quality like?

I know nothing about the Sonys but they look reasonable robust. An aquaintance on the Rock Grotto forum has managed to break a pair of Goldrings by falling over them and the pictures he posted don't look too encouraging. The only recommendation I could knowing make would be a 2nd hand pair of HD25s but you've already ruled those out. Sorry I can't help further.

Going to bump this thread. My DJ1001's have managed to hold out a bit further but another few chunks fell away this morning so am once more on the lookout for cans. Full sized and closed.

Any suggestions please?

Here is a headphone that sounds great, and is pritty indestructible, in fact I own 3 pairs of these, the first pair purchased in 2001.

Sanyo PH220 (discontinued) - can be picked up for £11 on amazon (old stock).

I don't expect there upto £140 headphones, but typical £40-£60 headphones no problem. I run them on a X-Fi and they are certainly Hi-Fi quality, very clear sounding headphones with good range in all frequencies. Sometimes in life you stumble on somthing that performs well above what it costs, and these are one of them.
