Looking to upgrade my Pioneer HTPGS1 Xbox 360 home cinema setup and my budget is under £450.

First up is the receiver. This seems to come down to the Yamaha DSPAX763 (£269.99) or Onkyo TX-SR506E (£220) or Onkyo TX-SR576E (£275).

This leaves me with around £200 for the speakers. Perhaps the Tannoy SFX5.1 (£199.99) or Jamo A102 (£199.99) would be a good pairing?

Any suggestions?

I have the Yamaha 761 ( same as 763 just no HDMI 1.3 and therefore no TrueHD sound)

Very pleased with it in combination with some Jamo A102S 5.1 speakers. Good setup for the £400 I paid for it (speakers were about £175 delivered)

I have been reading and the Sony comes very well recommended and can be had for £239.99. I'll be looking into this further.

I much prefer the look of the Jamo speakers, I don't want anything too big. So much to consider. Leaning towards the Sony amp and Jamo speakers.

I have the Jamo A102 speakers in the living room, with a Onkyo 606 fed with blu-ray & HD-DVD from a HTPC.

Impressive sound from such small discrete speakers.

Was going to pair them with the Sony 820 but got fed up waiting for the Sony to come in stock a few months back, and got a good deal on the Onkyo.
