nah not for me personally, if i had a spare 25k to spend then i would got the extra 3k and get an evo10 for a measly 28k and just eat that alive i suppose, the only people who will actually buy that are die hard ford fans, me personally im a vauxhall fan and have the vxr pushing 240 bhp, so my best option is an exhaust and remap to get up to 300 bhp at an extra cost of only 1200 quid putting my total cost up to 19,200, pales in comparison really,

nalla,

Just because you're vxr would have 300bhp doesn't mean it will be able to keep up with an RS at all. I must say the old RS impressed me when I went out in that which had 270bhp, so I am sure it will cope with 300 all fine.

Another thread full with thick gloopy lack of understanding. :p

I really will pee myself laughing when videos hit the net of this FWD Focus spanking 300bhp 4WD & RWD machinery.

You can buy a Evo X FQ 300 for a couple grand more.

I dont care what people say. FWD sucks and is horrible to drive on track when driven back to back with something RWD. Not driven 4WD on track yet.

I dont think these will ever reach the status of the cosworths imo.

Horrible colour also :p lol

I'd love one.. I love my ST2 and I think this is just a more extreme version.

However I think you would have to be almost criminally insane or have a lot of spare cash to buy one because the depreciation will be horrific.

In more normal times I expect it would hold its value very well but not at the moment.

Worth bearing in mind that Escort Cosworths were well over £20k new in the early 90s so stick inflation onto that and its effectively well over £30k (according to an online calculator its £32k based on 3% pa over 14 years) so its not exactly crazy money.

Still, I might use my ST ownership as a plausible excuse for a test drive to really p*** myself off..

I suppose it depends on what you get your enjoyment from. Feel, or just going fast. I don't doubt it will be every bit as quick if not quicker than some equivalent 300bhp RWD and 4WD cars, but if you don't like the way FWD cars feel to drive then it's a bit of a moot point.

If all you want to do is be able to traverse tarmac as quickly as possible, or you like the way FWD cars feel, then great :)

its nice but I wont be chopping in the ST for an RS just yet as the interior is the same as are all the toys, the only main difference is the engine power and cosmetics

Don't think I'll be swapping my ST for one, it just doesn't offer that much more (although a test drive may persuade me otherwise ;) ). Although a few mods to the ST will probably keep me happy for a while......

The Top Gear test track beckons, obviously the be all and end all of performance car comparisons :p.

I can't see it holding value like an evo tbh, they seem to be very resistant to depreciation.

Either way its a totally different proposition.

I also quite like being able to provoke a but of understeer followed by lift of oversteer. not saying its anywhere near as much fun as true oversteer or even a good 4 wheel drift but a well sorted FWD car isn't anywhere near as little fun as some on here would suggest.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I bet it will be an awesome car to drive, there's nowt wrong with a sorted FWD chassis, and you can have almost as much fun 'playing' with it as a RWD, it's just fun in a different way :)

I'd have one in an instant...

Loving the badge snobs in this thread.

It will also hold its value better compared to an expensive Evo/STI. Look at the equil Scooby vs the Mk1 RS.

I love it.

Id pick the evo because imo it will be the more capable car.. and it looks better also. Badge snobbery dont come into it.

A well sorted FWD car can be fun yes.. But a well sorted RWD is always going to be more fun. Moot point as said, its what ever floats your boat :p

Indeed, it's all subjective. I personally find a both as fun as each other, just fun in different ways.

I'm sure there are some valid opinions in here about FWD v RWD v AWD but what gets me is that half the people making comments have probably never driven a RWD/AWD car, it just becomes the fashionable thing to say "FWD sucks".

I wouldn't pay 25k for one, but then at this stage in my life I can't see me paying 25k for any car as there are more important things to be spending money on.

Depends how much power on the RWD. To have a serious fun a. You cannot just jump into a RWD and assume you are a driving god and b. A track as i cannot see the plod looking kindly on someone getting the back end out on a public road so for a quick a-b road car i can see this RS holding its own. The in gear acceleration 30-70 on the ST is really impressive cant wait to see the tested stats on this.
