Surround sound amp clicking / bass problem

I am experiencing a fault with my amp, every now and then i hear a clicking ( which i ashume is a relay operating) then loss of bass or reduced bass volume occurs.

Sometimes its a quick on/off of the bass, sometimes the bass doesnt come back for a few seconds

I have checked for any shorts on the back and cant see anything visible

I have just tried changing input channel to make sure it wasnt that channel that had the fault.

Any suggestions what i could do or what it could be ?

Makes/Models of said equipment could be helpful here. But typically a relay firing would be a type of over-voltage or protection. Might start with disconnecting any cables and then reconnecting until the fault occurs again.
