I have this memory Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) in my system at the moment and am very happy with it.

I need to add another 4GB of memory and was wondering if I could add a different brand. I dont want to spend 90 odd pounds when I can get very similar ram for half that price.

Such as this

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500 Gold Edition 4GB Dual Channel (OCZ2G10664GK

If I relax the timings a little to match the OCZ will they be compatible?

Hi,

I've got pretty much the same question, but with mixing Geil memory and OcZ.

The new stuff i bought is this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-096-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

and the stuff i already have in my machine is Geil 2*1GB PC6400 running at 4-4-4-12 (2.1V)

Is this ok, and how do i make sure they run at the same timings and voltages, or will by BIOS automatically do this (im running a Gigabyte 965P-DS3).

Cheers,

I've run ocz with crucial ram before and its been fine. cant guarantee that your two will run together without problems though.

you'll need to go into bios and manually set the voltages and timings.

I had probs mixing 2 different batch XM2 Dominator memory so dont know how much luck you will have with different brands, I've done with other brands before but the Dom PC2-8500 seem to be very picky as there already overclocked

I have mixed rev 1.1 and rev 2.1 atm running at 800 with upped NB and ddr2 volts any faster and the PC is not stable
