For me I was always interested in starting up matched betting, but when I weighed up how much time I would have to spend doing it to make money, I would have been better off just working extra time at work. More money, less hassle and more enjoyable than the tedious and mind numbing nature of matched betting. If you find you have a life with plenty of time to spare and actually enjoy matched betting and are willing to jump through the hoops then go for it.

For the lazy people there are sites like mbassist, bet72 etc, which will give you matches you can use.

Yeah, i've just been reading that. Looks like you need to register a credit card before you can withdraw - something I can't get until i'm 18. Bad times :o

Do NOT get a credit card for gambling with... a standard debit card is much better as most credit cards will charge you as if you were taking out cash on it.

The casino stuff is tedious. The sports stuff is easy, only takes a couple of minutes to place your bets and walk away.

It is all tax free. You should notify the tax man that you intend to become a full time pro gambler.
I never filled in a self assessment when I was doing it full time but never got any hassle either.

Good luck.

Do others agree with this? Matched Betting is something I just discovered this very evening. But I'm not interested in something that pays less per hour than I earn at work (which is basically min wage :p ).

It really depends on how long you want to spend looking for a match.
e.g. since reading your post I went and looked on Jaxx for a close match and have already found one that would return £23.86 from the £25 free bet.
Not bad for ~5 mins work ;)

Aye but presumably you've spent a decent amount of time working out how it all works? Anyway I will briefly look into how it operates :) .

oh yes, I spent almost a week researching it etc (sometimes at work, so was effectively getting paid to do so ;))
But it's like knowing how to ride a bike, or build a pc, once you know it, you never really forget how to do it.

What is your job, because I want it? I only manage to squeeze in a half hour or so of undeteced forum time a day ^^ (often less - how deprived).

Also, I'm umming and ahhing between the Gala Bingo deal (£20 for a genuine new member who deposits and wagers at least £5) and the Coral deal (£10 for a new account set up with a minimum deposit of £10 and upon a bet of at least £10 being placed) at Quidco (you can't take advantage of both). Presumably with some research I can make more money from the latter?

I've come up with a little system and I put £10 on betfair to get me started on saturday, 5days later I now have £3268.40.

Just wondered about my need to pay for tax but I think my question has been answered here by various people, cheers.

I was under the impression that if gambling was your only source of income, you will have to declare it as a taxable income?

Not sure if it's the same but I know that spread betting is 100% tax free. It doesn't matter how much of your income it makes up.
