Scanner not working in Windows7?

Im trying to get my scanner (Canon N1240U) to work under windows7 but dont seem to be having much luck.
Windows installed a driver for it automatically, and its listed correctly under the Devices and Printers applet, but none of my applications (e.g. Paint.net, Photoshop CS3) have it listed as a source under the import menu.
Before, under XP, I used to fire up Photoshop, hit File->Import->Canoscan N1240U, but now the device isn't even listed there.

I've checked the Canon site and there are no Vista drivers, let alone XP, so not sure what to try next?

Open up device manager and see what driver it has installed.

I removed the device and installed it using the driver from the Cannon CD that came with the scanner. Same result. Appears fine in Devices and printers, just not 'visible' by any programs
