My setup was working perfectly with a qx6850 3GHz processor (333 FSB) & 8GB pc6400 ram (4 sticks). After 9 months or so I decided to get a QX9770 and pass on my old processor to a family member....

Flashed the bios to the latest (1201) ready for the 9770 (supported according to ASUS). Still working fine.

Processor arrives. Took battery off the mb and shorted the contacts (needed to get the 6850 booting). All set to auto as before....booted up & 2.68GHz with a 333 FSB !?!?!?!. What's on earth is going on here !?

I faught with the bios and determined that the FSB would not work at 400MHz (1600). Maxed out around 360MHz without trouble. Forcing the multiplier killed speedstep (I like that feature). When all is auto the lowest clock is 2GHz as before, the highest an incorrect 2.68GHz. Even took out 2 sticks of ram.

SO...why no 3.2GHz/1600 FSB !?. And why does speedstep limit to 2.68GHz when my old 6850 got to 3GHz ??.

HELP !....Suggestions ?, thanks in advance.
