The council or whoever runs it is probably the best place to ask :)

Funny that. I've received a thank you from them today via email to say my application form had been received and I've been accepted. They enclosed a password for me to log into an account but I've never been in touch with them at all. Thought it was spam so deleted it especially as AVG was flagging it as having tracking cookies attached, will fish it out tomorrow and phone them.

hehe, gotta love the cycle to work sheme. Got me a £1000 specialised xc expert on the cheap :D

Did you have to take photo ID with you to the shop?
How long did it take? I've been told that the employer gives you the voucher for the shop, then got told that the cycle scheme sends it...?!

I got my first MTB - Rockhopper - on the cheap 3 and a bit years ago, and I reckon it's done about 8000 miles since as it's also my commuter. I can't recommend the scheme enough, it has worked wonders for my fitness.

But as my work did it through Halfords and it gets done annually, I can't really help you with your question.

I can't see the point in this. My work has a salary sacrifice scheme for bikes but I can only buy from one local shop, and I wouldn't own it either, would effectively be renting it. I'd personally rather find a better deal elsewhere and just buy outright. Might be a good deal if you are in a higher tax bracket though.

As a cycling instructor I know quite afew people have done this with mixed results; some have the voucher within a week others within afew weeks.

People I know have done it rent the bike for a year (Pay out of their monthly salary) and then buy the bike at an extremely low cost at the end of the year. (About 5% of the total cost)

Another thing to note is some smaller bike shops try to tell you that you have to buy a helmet/bikelock etc with the scheme (so that the actual bike shop makes more money) but in most cases you don't you can just get the bike.

They do that here BUT you have to buy the bike from Halfords!!!!!!
The council were giving away free bikes to certain post codes early in the year.

I've worked in the industry for about 4 years,

Vouchers can be 2/3 days to 2/3 weeks, its all about how quick your employer gets paperwork turned around.

Its a awsome scheme tbh, saving a massive amount on a new bike who can complain? anywhere from 25-50% saved! All depends on your personal circumstances, and you will never know how much it will cost you until you have done all the paper owrk and start to pay sorry to say.

ID wise, we used to only accept work ID cards, driving licence, passport. You really really need something with photo id.

The Scheme only allows you 1 bike per year. With a total cost up to 1k.

You can tho, get a 3k bike and put 1k through RideToWork/CycleScheme and pay the rest off elsewhere but you only get the saving on the first 1k.

Really? I managed to get 2 bikes this year. I was ready to argue that one bike was technically 'spare parts' for the other, but i just took the voucher into the shop and said 'i want that one and this one' and got away with it.
