Again maybe slightly heavier than the OP is looking for, you can't go wrong with a bit of Nightwish (you can always fast forward the heavier riffy tracks). Most of their albums feature some beautiful ballads and melodic sections, for example Nemo, Creek Mary and Ghost Love Score on "Once" and lots of tracks on their latest album, particularly towards the end.
