Hello guys,

My Dad wants a new PC for his office works because the one he currently uses is rubbish and about 8 years old, problem is he only has about £250 to spend... Will he get a build for this much?

Cheers

Yeah a tower only... What about this? I don't want an OcUK prebuilt one really, I'd much prefer to build my own

Antec 300 gaming case might be a bit OTT for an office PC, what case do you guys suggest?

I think part of the issue here is shipping costs and even though its eating 5% of the budget it's still enough to cause issues there :/

Can you recycle any parts such as the DVD drive? that would help hammer the price into the bracket you gave!

Edit: Considerd the Antec 200 or other such cases with the budget being as narrow as it is?

Drake22, that build looks great and I'll be going with that. However I assume the motherboard will have onboard Gfx? As I don't want to buy a graphics card for it.

Also, I've fit a lot of LGA 775 Cpu's before, but never AMD's, are they much harder?

Cheers

As he didn't spec a GPU I would assume it has one onboard, I'l check that in a moment. Both AMD and Intel chips are a similar method to fit, at worst there is an instruction manual supplied in the CPU's box

Edit: "- Chipset NVIDIA® GeForce 6100 / nForce 430 chipset" that would be an onboard GeForce 6100 then! http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-195-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1483

Cheers mate :D. Just as long as fitting an AMD isn't overly complicated I'm happy, I'm sure it'll be just as easy as Intel.

I've fitted plenty of both, the hardest part has always been when the heatsink is very close to another object like the top of the case or the PSU, I had to shave a few mm off of a Zalman Flower cooler for my AMD Athlon (socket A) system when I bought the fan due to the grill on the PSU's 120mm fan was an external one and meant the cooler would bend the motherboard, only ever had that trouble on one computer though :D

Got this on order.. I assume everything will be compatable etc? I always found it tricky to get the on/reset/hdd L.E.D cables on the right way on the mobo.
