I have a number of Pro copies coming after taking advantage of the eary offer, but my father is interested in the drive encryption as he's worried about things these days etc.

Is it possible to purchase Bitlocker seperately?

As for me I may look at getting becypt on the laptop for my HP 6715b, just need to upgrade it to 4GB to make the best of the 64bit O/S

To be honest I don't think you can buy it seperatley, I might be wrong.

There is plenty of software out there that does the job for free. TruCrypt springs to mind and has good reviews, although I haven't used it myself.

At work we use SafeGuard by Ultimaco, which I think costs $$$$

There is no need whatsoever to use anything other than TrueCrypt. We use TrueCrypt routinely at work for safeguarding material of a sensitive nature.

It's free, it works, that is all ;)
