Clutch in... revs up!

There's something wrong with my POS Ford Ka.

When i'm coming to a halt and push the clutch in, the revs rise up to around 4000 and then just back off.

The revs rise as i'm changing gear aswell but apart from that it seems perfectly normal.

Being a complete novice to anything that's related to the technical workings of a motor vehicle, I haven't a clue whats wrong.

Is it just that the clutch cable is caught against the accelerator cable or is it a dying clutch?

Thanks :)

Sounds like either a sticky throttle cable/body or an air leak.

What happens if you hold the revs at 4k and then back off? Do they stay at 4k for a few seconds?

edit... Yeah, or the IACV ;)

Crankcase hose fracture, ISCV (DEAD if its getting up to 4k), inlet man leak, throttle cable perhaps but you would notice either extra pull or mega hesitation.

Try cleaning everything, ISCV and throttle body/plates.

If you cannot move the valve within the ISVC, change.
