have live view for when taking photos ? Ie display the photo in real time before you take it, on the lcd screen, instead of just the viewfinder ? (i have spectacles, its tricky).

D40 and D70 dont... used them today :)

thanks!

You know you can control the focus of the viewfinder (there is a black slider on the right of the viewfinder).

The D70 does have a small viewfinder compared to the newer cameras. CHeck out a D300.

I didnt know that, sorted that now.

Nice camera, tbh i prefer working with a d40, everything is simpler and I cant really tell the difference in image quality.

I suspect a D90, which is what I really hanker after, would be perfect ?

The D90 is great, but people using the D90/D300s for video recommend using an external monitor for critical focusing, so good as the screen is it could be better. Also, you're stuck with slow (but accurate) contrast-based autofocus on liveview, and slower framerates.
