hi,my onboard sound card went fubar all of a sudden and i borrowed a friends audigy 2 with external panel until i get something sorted.

windows 7 recognized the audigy 2 straight away but when i try to connect my creative inspire 5.1 digital s700 via optical cable i get no sound at all.

nothing is muted, the audigy card is definately in working condition as well as the speakers.i've only just now tried to set up the system and the only cable i've got is an optical.

when i use test button on the speakers remote i can actually get a hissing sound from the speakers and sub but after that no sound at all in windows.

any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Do you have SPDIF as your default device?

located there. I'd check with a pair of headphones to make sure the card is working properly though.
