Wireless Bridge?

I have a WNR834B router at the minute which connects to two PC's via cat5 cable, 1 laptop via wireless and my friends PC who lives roughly 5/6 doors down via wireless.

Is it possible to get a router his end to act as a bridge (wireless) so he can connect his XBOX and PC via cable (not fussed about wireless his end).

Signal strengh from his to mine is about 50% with a WN121T to the WNR834B.

Any ideas? cheaper the better ?

2 x WRT54GL's ???

Yes a WRT54GL with Tomato can be set up to do this, but I really wouldn't trust it further than I could throw it, if you put your router say on the top floor of your house near a window facing his and likewise with the bridge end at his place you'd probably get away with it - maybe some external YAGI style directional antenna for the GL would also be a good idea.

It's not cheaper but it's certainly the better way of doing it IMO and IME:

1) Use 5Ghz bridges - less congestion around generally so less likely to have interference.

2) Mount them externally - maybe if you've got a TV antenna pole use that or the like with a clear line of sight.

3) 5Ghz external grade bridges are around £120 each for a proper weatherproofed bit of kit.
