Hi,

I'm selling my PC to a mate for £350 and want to build myself another one for up to £500. All I need is the cpu (running @ 4GHz if poss so a decent cooler too), motherboard, RAM (min 4GB), a HDD (500GB should be fine) and a DVDRW.

Ta!

What you going to use it for? Intel/AMD preference? Socket 1156 would be the best now, but AM3 would have more upgrade potential. It all depends on how you plan on upgrading or if you just keep buying completely new rigs every so often. What are you reusing?

Sorry, I missed out some things I meant to say!

I'll be using it mainly for gaming and Photoshop.

I don't need a case, psu or video card as I have just bought myself a Coolermaster 840 and a 5870.

It's a long story, but after sticking my fairly old stuff in the new case (my spec is in the sig) I realised it was time I upgraded. A mate at work said he'd buy my old bits off of me which will do me a big favour.

So he will have my old set up (Antec 900, DS3 mobo, 2GB RAM, cpu @ 3.55ghz, 8800gtx, dvdrw).

That means I need a new mobo, cpu, RAM and dvd rw. I already have the graphics card, case and psu. I was thinking of an i7 but I'm not sure if I'll notice a huge difference over what I currently have. People have even suggested I stick with what I've got just add another 2GB of RAM.

I'm dazed and confused but excited about a new rig...
