Start from scratch tbh there is no upgrade paths from that.

First step is Intel or AMD - after that its pretty much a straight line these days.

The DX11 generation cards are coming out / out now so expect prices on dx10 to drop off soon.

all doom and gloom lol

Could some one speck me up a system.........

Dont worry about the budget (being sensible of course lol)

I am thinking Board, Chip which (not bothered as have both intel laptop and amd pc), and GPU. Ram if the board doesnt take ddr2. Got the moniter and hdd. Could be tempted with new sata burner and dvd though.

many thanks

I like the idea of the amd...........is that quicker better than the intel?

If I had to make cuts to the spec (for budget reasons.) where would you make em?

Many thanks

Hi Fluffy,

Didn't realise I'd omitted a PSU in the original spec.:o

The Corsair 650 is well received. (£72.99)

The 920 is the quicker chip of the two. It's also the more expensive. Better? Too subjective to answer.:)

You could reduce the case cost with something like the Coolermaster HAF 922. (£94.99)

An alternative mobo from Asus would be the M4A78T-E. (£98.99)

Stepping down on the GPU could include something along the lines of the XFX Zalman cooled 4890. (£147.98)

You could still go for a 1TB drive that's a tenner or so less.

Go with stock cooling for now and recycle your optical drive for a further reduction.

That's a new total of (approx) £716 - slighly less in fact since you'd get free postage.

If you were to sell off some of your current rig in the MM, you'd reduce your net outlay further still.

Neil.
