Good shot LordMike, could do with some noise reduction though.

Nice shots Ollie, I like the shot of the no entry sign and looking down at the guy with long hair in particular :)

Another from my 'Photo A Day'. Another of one of my cats. I know everyone else probably is, but I never get bored of photographing my cats. However, I really need to fix my habit of shooting wide open, as I always leave one eye slightly out of focus, which kind of ruins the shot. Something else learnt from this little project :)

For some reason this looks overly processed, when in reality all I have done is adjust the WB, up the contrast and do some sharpening.

ScarySquirrel not being offensive but i find most of your recent work oddly focused for my taste.

Care to elaborate?

I do have a tendancy to shoot wide open, as mentioned above, which can mean that whilst one eye (if shooting a person or animal) is in focus, the other is out of focus.

Is this what you mean?

Othwerise, if shooting objects, the focus is on the subject. Such as the shoes, the focus is on the Globe logo on the tongue.

I've tried to get a few whilst driving home from work but I am seriously gash at landscapes. I need to keep a tripod in the boot of my car really. I can never get the right exposure either.

just some clarity and contrast enhancements, with added vignettes

2nd and 3rd shots there are really really nice.

The only thing I would say you could improve on is try to avoid having the horizon of a landscape shot slap bang in the middle of the frame. You either want more sky, or more ground (sea). This rule can of course be broken but for the most part the results will be more pleasing if you stick to the rule of thirds.

I don't think the vignette adds anything to the first photo, but it works well in the 2nd and 3rd.

Good work though, especially as they're your first photos.

thanks :)

the one you've taken with the horse is awesome!, what camera do you have?

i've just a got a sony cybershot t500, the black and white one was taken with my girlfriends canon powershot, so you can see the quality difference.

thanks for the tips, yeah these are the first pics i've taken with the thought of them being nice to look at, as opposed to me posing for camera at touristy spots.
