Hi all

Moved to oz 3 months ago with my Vaio Z series and 4870 x2 desktop.

Love COD and want to upgrade as far as I can so I dont have to pay the mega prices over here to much as I can claim some of the spend back on new business tax.

Anyways, I want to futureproof myself as much as possible (again) and wanted to know if any builders could see any problems in my spec choice:-

PS Some of these things might be different over here (i.e. candle powered PSUs)

Black Armor Case with Liquid Cooling VH600LBWS
EVGA X58 SLI Classified LGA1366
Intel Core i7 950
Corsair 12gb pc3-12800 ddr3
evga geforce gtx295 x2 (sli)
thermaltake toughpower w0133 1200w
LG GGW H20L x 2
Western Digital Velociraptor 300gb

need to consider heat sink? (or will the case cooling be ok)

This is coming in at about $5k aussie dollars.

Do I need to be careful at hardware choice? Havent built since the 775 days!

The EVGA classified is a lot of extra money for very little gain. Are you sure you NEED any of the extra features ? If not then the EVGA X58 SLI LE is a great board to go for.
The 950 is also unnecessary, extra cost for what can easily be achieved with overclocking, even with 12GB RAM. This being said, it does make the heatsink a critical part of the system. Does that 'Liquid Cooling' in the case mean it has a water cooling loop built in ? If so make sure it is all compatible with the components your choosing. If not a decent air cooler like the Prolimatech megahelems or Thermalright Ultra or True or one of the new Alpenfohn Nordwand.
12GB of RAM is pretty extreme, are you sure you need it ? If not then 6GB will allow you to get a better CPU speed which will give you noticeably better performance.
Buying 2 GTX295's is really quite silly atm, nVidia should be releasing their new range sometime soon . . . ish. Or get 2 5870's so that you can run DX11 games, otherwise your just shooting yourself in the foot future-proofing wise.
1200W is pretty extreme, I wouldnt expect the components Ive suggested so far to use over 850W at peak. One of the Corsairs would serve you very well.
The Velociraptors are pretty pointless, getting one SSD or a couple in a RAID setup is the fastest way to go. With something larger and slower for storage.

I am a futureproof idiot, I am only runing a quad core E6600 with ATI 4870x2 and 4gig of ram.

Should I wait to future proof, normally COD realeases are the bench mark of where I want to be.

Thanks for the advice guys, agree with everything you said so in the end opted for the one below.

My only concern is that they only had the following memory available:-

Patriot PVT36G1600LLK PC3-12800 2GX3 VPR XMP C8 6GB Triple Channel Kit 0.00 1 0

is this going to make a big difference?

Cheers

Sean
