PS3 sound thru PC?

I just bought a PS3 and an HDMI cable for it so at the moment both sound and video goes thru the HDMI cable directly to my TV.
The thing is, I just bought a new sound system for my PC (z2300) and I'd like my PC and PS3 to use it.

My question is, is it possible to set up my PS3 to output video thru the HDMI and Sound thru the Cinch cable? Then use a cable adapter cinch -> mini jack and hook it up in my computer, then I just have to set the PC to output sound input normaly thru the speakers.

Is that possible?

Yes, use the 3.5mm jack with the Line In port on your PC soundcard, and set the PS3 to play sound through that cable (rather than HDMI). You may have to adjust some settings on your PC (enable Line In, check it's not muted etc.), but chances are it will work straight away
