I went from a heavily overclocked 260 to a 5850 and haven't been blown away tbh. The 260 ran everything barring Crysis perfectly fine anyway, so Crysis is better but I guess I only really upgraded for new shininess.

Yeah that's sort of what I was getting at. The 5850 is a much faster card for sure, but the GTX 260 handles most things very well. So for example going from 100 to 130FPS is not going to be very noticeable IMO.

What we need are some games that use new engines :)

I am actually considering picking up a 260 and using it til the refreshes come out or there are more next-gen choices.

Also you could always throw another 260 in there and go SLI.....

I thought of SLI but my board dosent officially support it, and the PCI-E lanes only run at 16x4x

I think even the most expensive 1156 boards only run at 8x8x for dual cards.

I'll probably stick with the 260 then. Last time i changed GFX i was dissapointed ( went from 8800GTX SLI to a single GTX280 ) so dont want to do that again.

Not much faster imo, as i was going to go to the 5850 from my 4870 1gb (as 5870 wont fit my case), and thats around same performance as the 260, but after looking at the reviews, i saw the 5850 was mostly only 8 frames faster, so im not bothering now.

But don't forget. The gtx 260 is dated and the drivers are maxed out with performance boosts. 5850 have just started off so drivers are still fresh. You will see a big difference and the 5850 can be overclocked so :D

Not worth it... overclock the 260GTX or Upgrade to a 5870... only way its worth getting a 5850 is if you can guarantee around 30-35% overclock on it... otherwise framerates are mostly still in the same ballpark - even tho the 5850 is faster.
