Heya all,

So I've owned the car for nearly a year and it has out of nowhere developed a crack..
this crack is about 30 cm in length and bends inwards towards the driver side. It's also mostly within the nearside wiper sweeping zone.

So my questions is, would this crack fail the MOT (coming up very soon) and what is the cost of replacing it? I would rather not get the insurance involved as I doubt they will be nice about it in the next premium. (I'm with direct line)

Thank you

If you are fully comp, then windscreen cover is usually provided. Im pretty sure that would fail an MOT. It is an accident waiting to happen. All it might take is a bit of buffeting at speed / a small stone to shatter the windscreen.
Autoglass will quote for a replacement. Is it a special windscreen at all? Heated / Tinted etc? as that will of course be much more expensive!

Just a standard windscreen afaik. How will direct line respond with my NCB and premium? its such a shame as I was looking to replace the car very soon :(

Also does anyone know how much it will be if I paid for the service myself?

EDIT: finally, any recommendation on windscreen replacement companies? I hear Autoglass is a ripoff.
