I decided to swap from XP to 7 (retail version). I was going to format my drive and start fresh, before formatting I decided that I would delete my linux partitions as I never use it anymore. So I deleted the partitions and restarted my machine. Now after the Bios I get a GRUB loading error 22 message.

From looking around I need to use my XP disc (I have no idea where that is) to get to fixmbr. I tried loading the Windows 7 disk but it just tries to load over the top. I want to reformat before I load it as I got a virus a couple of months ago, sorted it out but since XP has been doing strange things.

Any ideas of what to do?

Do a custom install of Win7, you can format the drive in there, even delete/create partitions if you wish. Grub loading is because the MBR is looking for partitions you've removed/formatted which probably had Linux on it.
