Hi all,

Without overclocking, how much slower is the i7 920 than the i7 860 for general use? (general graphics, programming, games, etc.)

Does the lack of an aggressive turbo mode hamper the 920 in comparison to the 860?

Would you notice the difference in games performance?

Many thanks.

I always assumed the 920 was faster being on the more extreme 1336 chipset? Interesting question if the 860 is faster.

That said, I'm fairly sure the difference is not big between the physical processors. I think it's more just their platform and dual or triple memory that are the bigger differences.

If you really don't want to overclock then the i7 860 (or i5 750 is you don't think Hyperthreading is much use to you) is the way to go.

Without overclocking both may well out-perform the i7 920 on most tasks.
