Hi - I've got a wierd problem which I can't quite work out... I've oc'd my c2d e7500 from 266mhz bus speed to 340. All stable.

But when I load up cpu-z it says the bus speed is 300mhz!! It seems to register it as 340 if I go into the bios when booting to confirm the 340 value (it's there already, I don't change it) but if I just boot straight to windows it usually (though not always!) says 300!!

Is cpu-z wrong? How can the pc boot at a different bus speed from what the bios says??:confused:

Speed step is turned off in bios, and load seems to make no difference - tested with orthos and prime95.

Sometimes it boots at 340 bus speed, other times at 300... I have no idea why!!!!!

Does the FSB go up when the CPU is under load?
That would be awesome if it did . . . I've never seen a computer adjust the FSB according to load! :p

@ ricardomax: I'm puzzled as to what that could be? it's seem likely to either be an error in the BIOS or perhaps CPU-z? . . . . Good one I'm not sure either! :D
