Not much chance of the US getting involved to be honest though, really!
What if we threatened to pull our forces out of Afghanistan to focus on protecting the Falklands?

The USA would embargo the UK, side with Argentina and offer their oil companies and military support for a large share of the oil
Nuke Argentina.
Agreed however if it came to that I suspect we'd just offer a few drilling contracts to the USA in return for their support
I think the UK has learnt from their mistakes, we would never let them take the islands in the first place as defences have been significantly beefed up. They were essentially defenseless in 82.
I didn't know they'd been replaced. In that case what the hell of Argentina got to threaten Eurofighters, their air force is still is using 80's eras aircraft man of which haven't been well maintained. They'd almost be better off throwing paper planes at us.
Actually, the UK is less equipped now to fight another Falkland's War than it was in the 80's. That's what happens when the defence budget is constantly slashed, and ships are mothballed.
The Argies, may be worse off than us technically, but the fact that they are geographically much closer to the Falklands than we are does give them an advantage. Simply put, their supply lines are shorter. That means they can hold out much longer than us if it turns into a war of attrition.
tl;dr: don't underestimate the Argies.
it would cost more to cancel the new carriers than it would to finish building them now. They won't get cancelled.
If the argies kicked off... just 3 words.....
Trident Nuclear Submarine!
Park one of argie land and see what happens!
You're saying an oil finding that represents 25-30% of the country's entire GDP isn't much?500-800bn of oil ... that's not that much really given how our GDP is in 2-3trillion or something
Id like to see them try the UK with its current tech nevermind 1980's would destroy them, even with some of the troops being in the middle east.
