ATI + PhysX?

Good evening ladies and gentleman.

I have a 5850 and a 8800GT 512MB. Can I use the 5850 as my main card and use the 8800GT just for PhysX? I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

Yes and no. Nvidia have pulled a lot for support for PhysX.


I'm not well up on PhYsX, but I'm sure someone will know more about getting it working, people have hacked driver to get it working to some degree.

Yes, but don't expect anything earth-shattering. 8800GT is enough for Batman PhysX effects at normal level, the high setting stutters like a hell with my HD5870 + 8800GT @ 1920x1200.
Mirrors Edge works when you remove the PhysXCore.dll and PhysXDevice.dll device from game folder (it will start using the patched version of these dlls from Windows folder).

Just download the 191.xx series of NVIDIA drivers, 195.xx is not supported yet AFAIK.

Got it working, thanks a lot guys!

Used the latest beta drivers and the latest PhysX mod. That guide at Hard Forum was useful -followed in to the T and it worked flawlessly.

Now to get some Mirror's Edge and Batman: Arkham Asylum goodness on the go!

That one misses the most important fact - create a forced monitor on NVIDIA card, or you can't turn on PhysX because you got no NVIDIA control panel.

May as well play through my PhysX games before selling it. Can't imagine it will devalue in that time.
