I've always considered WinSCP an SCP client rather than a Putty replacement. Not seen PuttyCM so thanks for that. Looks like putty equivalent of RoyalTS. :)

Also remember seeing TeraTerm a long long time ago and the script stuff sounds useful so will be trying that out as well as currently I'm having to use plink to script scp commands and the like for automated jobs!

I use Putty Tray, adds these features to putty:

  • New default icon
  • Minimizing to the system tray (on CTRL + minimize, always or directly on startup)
  • (Tray) icon customizable
  • Blinks tray icon when a bell signal is received
  • Configurable window transparency
  • URL hyperlinking
  • Portability: optionally stores session configuration in files (for example: on a USB drive) like portaPuTTY
  • Easy access to the 'always on top' setting (in the system menu)
  • Reconnects when your PC wakes up from stand-by
  • Attempts to reconnect when the connection fails
