A friend has a netbook and as managed to mess up the display. The display is fine until windows loads at which time the screen goes black (so fine at startup and early part of the load sequence).

The key to change the screen output from external monitor to inbuilt works and is set to the inbuilt one.

Safe mode crashes and BSODs

At some time he has connected it to a TV and changed some resolution and frequency settings (probably the cause of the problem). It no longer works with the TV either, or an external monitor.

I'd just reinstall but there's no DVD/CD drive.

So any way back for this thing?

Possibly update the bios? To be honest if it's blue screening in safe mode then there might be a hardware problem. If it's still under warranty I'd be tempted to play none the wiser and try and get it repaired or replaced (don't update the bios in this case)
