Hi there just completed my first ever build yesterday. I've tried my first overclock this morning and everything seems stable enough but there is a weird noise like a hissing/whistle coming from somewhere in the system whenever I stress test. My specs are:

i5 750 @ 3.8Ghz core voltage about 1.4v bus speed 200 multiplyer 19
Gigabyte P55 UD5
Noctua NH-U12P-SE2
4Gb G.Skill Ripjaw DDR3 1600Mhz @ 1600Mhz CL8 using XMP
Nvidia 9800GT

Temps seem ok:

Core 0 @ 82 degrees
Core 1 @ 82 degrees
Core 2 @ 75 degrees
Core 3 @ 79 degrees

What could the noise be? It better not be the CPU melting!!! Could it be that the motherboard capacitors are getting overloaded??? Any help chaps will be grately appreciated. Cheers.

Some psu's experience capacitor whine with certain graphics cards so it could be that. Take the side panel off and listen for where the noise is coming from.

I will let someone else confirm the voltage is ok/too much as i have no experience with i3/5/7 but i was sure i read somewhere that Intel recommends a max of 1.35v.

I get exactly the same with the UD3. 8800GTS (640mb) & FSP600W PSU.

had it on previous builds too.

At 4GHz it's louder btw. :p

I don't like the noise but it's only when the CPU is flat out which is rarely in everyday use.
If it's the coils in the PSU the hopefuly it'll get quieter again when I upgrade the R5 array from 4*3 year old drives to 3*Green drives?
