New Rig - Long Life, Some Gaming

Hey everyone,

I'm looking into buying a new computer for myself, my old one has been making do for 5 - 6 years now and needs a total refresh.

Basically I would like to be able to run some games (COD MW2 mainly) and then just want a good live from it is all. The components I've been looking at are:

CASE: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-049-LL&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=

CPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-301-IN

Motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-363-AS

Power Supply: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-CS

Memory: 4GB (2x2GB) Crucial DDR3 1333MHz/PC3- Ballistix

Hard drive: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1279

Graphics Card: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-139-XF&tool=3

CPU Cooler: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-029-CM

The main criteria has been to keep it at around £800, I need an nvidia card because I do a lot of work on Linux platform and linux is support better by nvidia. Although the graphics card I've selected says it supports "extreme HD" screen resolution of 2560x1600, I have 2 1440x900 monitors - is this going to be all OK?

The memory I've already bought second hand.

Also planning on getting Akasa apache fans to keep the system as quiet as possible, number of them will depend on whether people think I should get them for CPU and the number for the case.

Is there anything blindingly wrong with the components I've picked?

Cheers,
Matt

I got that GPU myself. Its very good but for that money you should go for a HD4890 slightly better performance. You can easily overclock it to the speeds I mentioned in the review but I encountered some problems in games like COD3,COD4,Oblivion and some other so I had to lower the speeds to this which I suggest you should use if you wanna overclock it.700/2322/1509.You will see a performance increase by 3-5% over the speeds it comes with.It will be able to handle MW2 at max settings without problems. As for long lasting I think it will be to play games maxed out for another years or so.

If your committed to buying a nvidia card then this is a very good value product imho.
