Tape Media Format problem, backup exec

Hi All i have a Dell PowerVault 14xx single loader working from a Blade system with Backup Exec 12.5. The tapes are (15x) 800gb - 1600gb.
We had them in an auto loader rig which for some reason used the wrong encryption key and declines to remove or format the tapes.

I want to use these tapes on a new site but am not able to format them.

I get an error on backup Exec allong the lines of screw you i am encrypted you can not format me.

Any help would be great.

If it makes a diff, the unit is an MD1000

I think youve got yourself some hosed tapes my friend, not sure if the encryption is reversible

Sent back to Dell who did a batch magnetic wipe on the tapes.
