Fraudulent Use of E-mail Address to Setup PayPal Account

Hi Everyone,

Last night, I received some e-mails from PayPal to say I had used my Hotmail account to setup a new PayPal account, when in fact I didn't, and that I also used the new account to make a payment of £8.99 for something. Fortunately, I've checked both my genuine PayPal account and my bank account and the £8.99 transaction doesn't appear.

Is there anything I should be worried about? I've just reported this to PayPal, and changed my password on the Hotmail account.

As long as you didn't use any links in the email to log into paypal you'll be fine.

^ OK, thanks for putting my mind at ease.

The e-mails I got do seem to be originate from PayPal, but I didn't use any of the links to log into my account.

I've got people logging into my Barclays account as we speak

Yes you have, you just looked a bit... browner that day.

It is a hoax to get you to go to most likely a fake paypal website and enter your real log in details
