I have an EP45-UD3P mobo and have been looking at an upgrade for a while, still cannot decide but have been looking at 5770 reviews and Crossfire performance is pretty damn good, on minimum 10fps gain over the GTX260 while 20+FPS gain in other games (all at 1920x1200). The 5770 Xfire also seems to be better than a 5850 in some games too.

I cannot find any Bad Company 2 benches though so does anyone have any figures for this config at all?

At the moment I get 50~ FPS with HBAO off and 2xAA 8xAF, water on medium and everything else on high. I'd like to be able to use 4xAA and max everything else with HBAO on.

I can't decide!

I reckon I can get some decent moolah on eBay for the GTX260 and the 5770 CuCore would be £120 each.

P.S.
It will be running alongside a Q9550CPU @ 3.4GHz.

Cheers!

a 5850 overclocked to 5870 speeds would do you nicely. Two 5770's are not that bad either, However its entirely up to you.

edit... beat me to it lol

I have played with crossfired 5750's (overclocked to 900core/1375mem), crossfired 5850's (975/1175), and a single 5850. For my resolution (1920x1200), I settled on a single 5850. Crossfired 5770's may offer better average FPS, but there is more noticeable stuttering and not all games benefit greatly from it.

My advice is to go for a single 5850.

Its been shown that a 5850 at 5870 speeds is the same performance regardless of the stream processor deficit, xfire is not guaranteed to scale 100% in all games and the 5770's take a bigger FPS hit with AA. Always go with a single card solution if you can, way less trouble and 100% scaling in all games.

'and the 5770's take a bigger FPS hit with AA.'

Not always the case. Just a quick example, take Crysis for example at 1920X1200, high detail, 0AA: 5850= 49.1fps
4XAA " =42.3fps

0AA CF5770= 45.3fps
4XAA " =39.8fps

5850 hit when AA applied = 6.8fps
5770 hit when AA applied = 5.5fps.
Above taken from this review

So, not always the case that the 5770 take a bigger hit when AA is applied.:)

This review of Dirt2 at Ultra settings 1920X1200 at zero and X4AA shows the difference in min fps between the 5850 and CF5770 as 1fps, thats a big hit!

Thats a bit of an unfair thing to say isn't it? Saying 2 cards takes 1 more fps hit than a SINGLE 5850? If it was 2 5850's, then you would see a big fps drow with aa with the 5770's

Its a fair comparison mate as the above was comparing 5850 to CF5770 and that the CF5770 take a bigger hit when AA is applied. I was just pointing out that it is not always the case. Many others also quote 'the minimum fps is much worse on the 5770's' again this is not always accurate. Its perfectly fair to compare the 5850 to CF5770 as the cost and performance are similar though the CF5770 clearly wins.:D

It all comes down to how much money you're willing to spend. If it isn't a consideration or worry then go for a top end card(s). If you are after bang for buck you can't beat xfire 5770 for the price.

I tend to stick to bang for buck, hence why I have the GTX260 and before that the 8800GT and ATI 4870, in fact the 5850 would be the first card I'd have spent £200+ on!
