ASUS are starting to get a lot of recognition thanks to their passion for gamers. They have taken so much of a gamer’s heart in mind when they’ve designed their latest range of ROG products. CeBIT is a case in point – the sheer weight of ideas and products showcased at this event have been impressive to say the least.

Whether you’re a pro, a mobile gamer, an overclocker or an all-rounder, there is something in this smorgasbord of technical delights to suit you. One of the products that really captured my imagination was the 120Hz PG276 monitor. This is currently the world’s largest gaming monitor (wooooo) with a whack of features to add to the gaming experience.

The monitor is 27 inches with a LCD high definition 3D display that uses alternate-frame sequencing in conjunction with active shutter glasses so the screen refresh sits at a magic 120 fps. It supports Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology and has 1920x1080 resolution. I could just kiss it!

The contrast ratio is 20 000:1 with a 2ms response time and has lots of lovely connectivity ports to keep you happy. These include dual-link DVI, HDMI and VGA. It looks to offer an extremely smooth gaming experience that even includes viewing angles of 170/160 degrees. Seriously, with these elements you’re not only looking at a monitor that helps to reduce the sample-and-hold effect of LCD monitors, but also looks delicious on your desk.

There is no confirmed date as to when this beauty is going to hit the shelves, nor do we have a specific price point yet, but the whispers are suggesting that this may well be a June release. Just in time for some summer fun gaming. Yeah!

Great they've chosen to stick with 1920x1200 too. Having to drive 2560x1440 at 120FPS would be a nightmare.

no such luck. its 1080p :(
and is it LED ?

DP can drive 120hz. in fact you run 120hz doesn't mean you need 120fps games but you still get added benefits and of course some games will easy run over 60fps on modern hardware

also 27" is a really nice size and welcome but you will have to sit a bit further back as its approaching TV size but with HDTV resolution.
The pixel pitch will be better than a 32" TV at the same distance but you would sit further back for that so its not like looking into a very detailed gaming window like you might expect on existing screens (which in truth already could be a bit better now they are getting bigger)

27" 6663 pixels / sq. in 1080p
32"TV 4893 pixels / sq. in.1080p

24" 16:10 8900 pixels / sq. in!

look at the actual size difference between a 16:10 24" and a 16:9 27"

not much, and you lose 25% pixel pitch.

also 1440 or 1600p is possible as most people run high settings on single 5850/5870 cards now with eyefinity @ 5760x 1200p just without AA. with the 6xxx cards @ 2gb shouldn't be a problem. im running 2048x1152p x3 23" + bezel at 6444 x 1152p = 7.24mpixel my pixel pitch is 10441 per screen.

out of interest a single 27" dell ultrasharp is 11249 pixels / sq. in. ! and has professional standards of colour and contrast, it wont be long before these sizes get 120hz also.

i didnt mention 3D in this post as i dont think its a great feature and gives headaches over long gaming sessions. id rather wait for a solution without glasses and use the extra Hz for faster response gaming and reduced lcd motion blur
