I have my cpu running at 181 x 21= 3.8Ghz

Cpu voltage 1.1825
The rest in auto

Can you guys give me a layout to take it up to 4 Ghz, cos i think it will do it easily with this low voltage at 3.8ghz.

But i dont know why it fails, i have tried 200x20 = 4ghz at 1.25 vcore.

And it failed within 38 minutes.

Please i need some advice

Thx

You should be able to hit it if you up the voltage slightly as has been mentioned before. Mine is also at 1.35.

I found this article extremely helpful, and it got me to 4GHz straight away. It also explains the process of oveclocking the i5 in a lot of detail:

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/09/21/overclocking-intel-s-core-i5-750/1

It includes other voltages to try out too, not just vcore.

Happy overclocking :D

I cant get 200 on the bclk wont do it, i can do 197x21 though and its fine so im just over 4.0Ghz, tried running a 1.4vcore and all sorts but just wont have it :(

@ 4.13 and seems fine gaming no crashes, cba with stress tests as long as its ok in games im ok with that. Temps range from 36 to 50 after gaming sesh

1.18 ?? I thought they were 1.25 by default? I Can run 3.8 with 1.31 with good temps or 4ghz at about 1.39 but gain about 10 degrees on full load temps.

You will definitely need more vcore than you currently are using to get 4GHz stable.

I am suprised that you have 3.8GHz with the voltage at 1.18, what are you using to test for stability??

Please beware with the link to bit-tech, they used a VTT voltage WAY ABOVE the absolute maximum (1.21 V) specified by Intel and I would not advise following that part of the 'guide'.

Funny you should say that, because I lowered my VTT after reading the i5 overclocking forum. I used the bit-tech settings, but using a VTT of 1.2(ish, can't quite remember now) and it's perfectly stable. So I would def agree with you there.
