But seriously, many likely just don't want it to be known as they're females. Either they don't make a fuss of it, or just don't think it matters.

TBH, most of the time being a moderator / admin is thankless work. You do your job, and people think "yep, you're doing what you should be." you disagree with them, or make one tiny mistake and they're happy to jump down your throats in a "fight the power" attitude.
