ANyone watched the vids comparing the noise of the cards, ouch, the 470/480gtx are loud, very loud at max power. I find a heavily overclocked 5850 is a touch to loud and am planning on doing something with it, even if I had the cash I wouldn't buy a 480gtx, not till they find a way to mount a TRUE on it anyway.
I keep seeing things that don't add up though.
The uk [H] puts the power usage between a 480gtx load system and a 5870 load system at something insane, either the 480gtx is using 250W and the 5870 180W is very much worst case scenario and their card is getting no where near that under load, or the 480gtx uses WAY more than 250W. Same goes, [H] shows a 50W load difference between the 470/480gtx, though specs wise the difference should only be 35W.
Maybe Nvidia are rating just the gpu and not memory/power components or something odd, the numbers aren't matching up though.
[H] seems to say the only thing Nvidia did right was 480gtx in sli, but thats because the 5970 is a downclocked 5870, and realistically if RRP's were followed in the UK at £300 and £430, the 5970 gives you massive massive value for that performance even with lower clocks, while 2x480gtx's is the price of 2x480gtx's. The problem is a single GTX is basically as expensive as a 5970, you could afford a 2nd 5970 before you could add on a third 480gtx. If you just bought 2x 5870's though, or even worse 2x5850's and clocked them to their max, 480gtx sli would be beaten, with cards costing less than a single 480gtx, oppps.
