Been offered 5870 brand new for £250. Should I upgrade from GTX285? Really tempted, but thing is my 285 never been not enough for me.

I've just gone from a GTX275 to a 5870 (yesterday!), and I'd highly recommend it. You might get around £180 for your GTX280. There's some crazy Nvidia fans out there!

What's your temps with it idle/gaming? is the noise low on it?

I've gone the same route as you, mine arriving tuesday probably can't wait.

I've gone down the ATi route too... XFX 9800GT "xXx" > XFX HD5870!

I guess I'll just buy it. Its pretty clear GTX480 is crap and will neither get replaced nor significantly drop in price soon, so for less than 100 it seems like a good upgrade.

I went from a EVGA 285 > XFX 5870 XXX. Def faster but noise is about the same. I expect it uses less power too.

Ive sold 3 x GTX 280's for £200 each + shipping. GTX 285's are going for around £225. +£25 and youve got yourself a 5870 so would be mad not to.
