I have renstalled xp onto my laptop and i am finding that it blue screens now and again. The only things i have done since the installation is install Kaspersky 2010 and Microsoft Office 2007 and windows updates.

On the blue screen i was able see the following file name mentioned "WBSP.sys" Does this help??

What mite be the problem?

Not entirely sure what WBSP does but maybe try reinstalling XP again.

Does it crash at any set point or is it random, might be worth running memtest

tried to reinstalling xp there and in the middle of doing so if blue screened again. it said something about ntfs.sys error. Could it be a failing hard drive??

Will try memtest now.

Ok chances are it could be HDD too, see what memtest comes up with.

If the HDD comes up clean then the next step would probably be to go into the BIOS and disable all the extra bits (ie sound, ethernet etc) but I doubt it will come to that.
